OPENING CEREMONY IN ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2020 - 2021

On October 19th, 2020, Can Tho University of Technology solemnly held the opening ceremony of the 2020-2021 academic year.

Attending the ceremony were leadership representatives of Can Tho City, the CTUT Rector Board and leaders, staff, lectures and students.

At the beginning, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Anh, Vice Chairwoman of Can Tho City People's Committee, reading the letter from General Secretary - President Nguyen Phu Trong to education sector on the occasion of the new academic year.

In the academic year 2020 - 2021, Can Tho University of Technology has recruited nearly 1200 students from 15 training disciplines, including 01 new Information Technology major, exceeding 100% the enrollment target as expected, enlarging the total number of students of the whole university to above 4000 students. At the ceremony, the University honored 02 new students who were selected as valedictorians of the academic year 2020-2021.

Prof. Dr. Huynh Thanh Nha, Rector of the university, said: “In the new school year, along with improving the quality of training, the university also focus on: (1) caring about ethics, lifestyle and behavior for students, (2) Implementing the quality assurance of training programs, (3) Promoting international cooperation and activities of foreign language learning, (4) enhancing international integration and scientific research among lecturers and students, (5) Strengthening cooperation to develop financial sources for investment in scientific research, (6) Investing in upgrading and expanding Campus I in An Hoa ward, Ninh Kieu district, and at the same time deploying Investment Campus II in Long Tuyen ward, Binh Thuy district, with an area of 5.7 ha.

At the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Thanh Nha called the whole university to give hands to support the people in the Central region who are suffering from natural disasters and floods, the donation period will be started from October 19th to October 24th, 2020, in which staff contribute at least one salary day.

With the achievements in the 2019-2020 school year, the university was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Ministry of Education and Training for 1 collective and 1 individual. The Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City presented Certificates of Merit to 4 teams that won the title of excellent labor and 1 group and 6 individuals who successfully completed their work in the 2019-2020 school year.
